Come here! I found it! The fern's.... flower....

Fern's flower is a rare thing that can fulfill your dreams but has a bit of a dark power similar to Sauron's Ring. Well, it's only a legend, but I always loved it
Anyway, last night was a pagan Slavic holiday called Kupała's Night (I have no idea how to translate it into English) and this is the only night when you can find the fern's flower. My only celebration was some sketch which I decided to color, but I changed my conception for it during the sketching and thought that merging Kupała and a celtic holiday Beltaine would be a great idea. And what is funny- when I was coloring this for a long time the girl was looking like an Asian XD

And what to say more.. I was just tired of making the bg, mostly because I lost my favourite tutorials and I had to think how to do this myself which took much time and tries ;) So, I guess I will correct the bg. Soon maybe?

No to chyba najlepsze piękna kolorystyka i tak wiosennie cóż może wiosny już nie ma ale jednak obraz może to zawsze przypominać.

25th? We celebrate midsummer then, though our myth is collecting 7 different flowers under your pillow and you'll dream of your "soulmate". I like this story of the Fern's flower! It's both adventurous/mysterious and dark.

This piece of art however is gorgeous, very summery and natural! The details are exquisite and the young lady is charming!

I never remember when it is celebrating I just heard in the radio they were advertising some events and I thought I should draw something. I like this celebrations, but I don't remember when I should do it, oh geez XD

Oh, the legend about fern's flower was always one of my favourites. Now after years from when I read it last time I don't remember everything, but I remember that it's indeed adventurous and a bit dark.

Oh I found my book with the legends so I can tell you some things about it :D So there was celebrations of Kupala and the young boy found the fern flower and put it next to his heart. He felt a pain, because the flower grew it's roots into boy's heart and told him that he will receive what he wants but he can't share it with others. But the boy was happy even with this condition and soon he became prince-like and had everything he wanted. After a few years he really missed his family so he went to see them and he found out that his father is dead and his mother is even more poore than she was before but after he thought about helping them, he decided that his happiness is more important (and that's also why he haven't helped her and his brothers earlier). So he returned to his palace but he had the stings of remorse and after some time he decided to travel to his village again. And in his mother's poor farm everything was like before but nowhere was a sign of life, so he entered the hut but there was nobody inside. Then some beggar told him that everything and everybody died of poverty, hunger and illnes. The boy realised that it was his fault so he wished he would die like his family. And the fern flower fulfilled his wish, the ground opened and boy with the flower fell into an abyss.
So, that's the legend in short :3
